I am delighted to have had my raise gluten health awareness article published in the new health magazine ihealth.

I chose to write about gluten to raise awareness about the diverse range of health conditions that can be affected by this controversial grain.

These conditions include, digestive problems, osteoporosis, recurrent anaemia, fatigue, brain fog, infertility, difficulty losing weight and autoimmune illnesses.

The latest scientific research coupled with experiences of Doctors, Nutritional Therapists and their clients around the world are now showing that gluten is not a safe food for any of us.

That is a bold statement to make but ground breaking research carried out by Dr Alessio Fasano shows very clearly that in all of us gluten triggers the release of “zonulin which causes the gut to become more “permeable” than it should be.

In some people the damage is repaired quickly so they may not experience any obvious problems.

However, in other people the damage can not be repaired quickly enough and, over time, the repeated consumption of gluten causes increased intestinal permeability leading to other food intolerance’s, brain fog, mood changes and autoimmune illnesses to name a few. This why I feel it’s important to raise gluten health awareness.

My article explores these issues in more detail and highlights the importance of accurate testing.

Most health conditions are multi factorial and I am not suggesting that going gluten free is a “cure all”, however, I do feel that for most people with chronic health problems it is a piece of the puzzle that at least deserves some consideration.

The next issue will be coming out in December and will include my article about food intolerance.
